Just recently, I was going through a couple of pictures in one of my albums on Facebook and surprisingly, I stumbled across a picture of magnolia flowers (it is the one above). I had placed that picture for the purpose of an online event that requested users to upload a picture of a flower that begins with the same letter as their name. As I was thinking of a flower that began with the same letter as my name, I realized that one of my favorite perfumes, which was given to me as a birthday gift in early 2007 by a Korean friend, had the scent of magnolia flowers.
I had been using the perfume for almost four years until it finished about half a year ago. It was from Bath and Body Works and came in a cute package that looked like a mini-capsule. When I visited Bath and Body Works to look for another one, I had realized that the company had discontinued selling the product. I asked one of the sales women the reason for it, but she didn’t know. Instead, she gave me a form that I could fill out and offer suggestions to the organization. I gladly filled out the form, explaining that Bath and Body Works should continue selling the product.
What I had liked about the perfume was that the scent was fresh and it wasn’t strong like many other branded perfumes. In fact, a friend of mine really liked it and asked me what perfume it was so that he could buy it for his girlfriend. =P
Although the scent of magnolia flowers is lovely, I find the symbolism of the flower to be very interesting. According to Symbolism Wiki, the “magnolia symbolizes sweetness, beauty, and love of nature,” and, “although it has no specific heraldic symbol, it has developed over time into a symbol of femininity, nobility, and perseverance.” Furthermore, Nations Online states that in China, the symbol for the magnolia flower is beautiful woman.

The last time I checked online, eBay and Amazon were selling the perfume. The fact that they are the only ones selling it, they have been able to take advantage of that and are offering the perfume at a high price. Talk about business! =P
My definition of magnolia flowers: a flower with a scent of pure sweetness just like its symbol. ^^
