The Last Two Years Of Undergrad.

My newsletter ^_^

A picture is worth more than a thousand words…

The following picture is of a newsletter that I had made for the Pakistani society at my undergrad. university. Working with this committee on events, preparing for the big performance, and being with my wonderful friends was perhaps the best part of my uni. life. So much has changed after grad… I am the farthest away from all of my friends. Even though I had the opportunity to meet up with my friends and some of my ex-committee members in January this year, I just wish there was more time to catch up and talk about life.

I still can’t believe that it has been almost two years already since graduating from my undergrad. Everyone goes their separate ways in life, but there’s not a day that goes by where I remember all the great times that I’ve had with the people that I was once with.

I’m really thankful to everyone that supported me during the elections and throughout my Senior year of when I was the Media Coordinator. It was tough due to the drama that came along during the campaign week and the fact that there were many expectations, but having the position that I ran for was definitely worth it!

As for the friends that were there for me, especially in the last two years of my uni. life…you girls are my angels! <3 I just wish that I wasn’t so far away from you all in this land of kangaroos and koala bears =P

P.S. My picture is on the second left-hand side of the bottom row and is next to the title “Media Coordinator” in the above photo ^^ (there was only one other girl in this committee, who had left in the middle of the year, so it’s easy to spot me! =P)

My Dear Friend from Changsha…

Standard

At the beginning of this month, one of my close friends that I made in Sydney last year left for good. She has been in Changsha for the past few weeks and is now in Guangzhou for a short trip. She’ll be in Thailand by the end of this week, iA.

We have been keeping in touch on WhatsApp and she has sent me some wonderful pics. of her life in Changsha. The first pic. of course were of her plushies and presents that her parents had set up in her room. It had been one year and three months since she saw her parents and because she missed out spending time with them on the Chinese New Year, her parents gave her extra gifts. ^^ Her room is really cute!

A few days back my friend had also sent me a pic. of a place where one can get “Happy Lemon”, which is a drink that includes lemon in it. However, what really touched me most was the photo that she tagged me in on RenRen and the message for me underneath it.

Friend RenRen Update

I wish she could have stayed here longer. I miss her too!

A New Year’s Eve on Campus

January 1st, 2011

Facebook Caption: “New Year at ___ =P No fancy dress or glamorous look to celebrate the occasion…just a hoodie and pair of jeans for the cold. That’s how I roll.”

Yes, I’ve been rollin’ ever since xD On a serious note, this picture was taken right after New Year’s Eve. The fireworks display that happens at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai can be seen all the way from my campus, so my friend and I decided to stay back at uni. to see it.

My uni. is widely known for its architecture. The Sheikh (Ruler) of the Emirate, who is also the founder of the university, has a fascination with domes, so almost every building on campus has a dome on it. The campus is really beautiful…something that I miss apart from the uni. life.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

I miss this game so much! The ending always gave me goosebumps…especially when Link goes back in time and meets Princess Zelda all over again at Hyrule Castle.

The music, the characters, the game play, the plot…PERFECT!

Nostalgia at its peak.

Favorite Childhood Movies Part III – Willy Wonka and the Chococlate Factory

Standard

A quick post, which I will discuss briefly later on. A great movie based on a great book by the Australian author, Roald Dahl.

Pure imagination, indeed.

I don’t know how many have seen this movie, but it’s really nice. I personally liked it much better than the 2005 remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by Tim Burton in which Johnny Depp starred in.

Child of the 90′s – Internet Explorer

Standard

I like this ad.! I see what the company was aiming at… It is connecting back to the past through nostalgic references that most of us, who grew up in the 90′s, are familiar with, and they are trying to reconnect with that audience again. Overall, it’s a reminder that Internet Explorer continues to be with its audience through time.

All of the references were pretty much part of my childhood. God, I miss the 90′s. May we have AWESOME times again?

I’ve been using Internet Explorer for many years until I entered my undergraduate university. I started liking Firefox then, since I found it much faster. However, there are many that prefer to use Google Chrome over the before-mentioned Internet browsers.

Even so, there is no denying that Internet Explorer was what most of us used back in the days. ^^

Dreams – A Poem by Me

Dreams – A Poem by Me

Hello! Just landed in the sandbox aka the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia last night. What a long flight! Right now I’m enjoying my time at home. It’s so nice to finally see my room after almost a year. As soon as I entered, I could see a burst of colors and my personality in each and every object that is present. I’ve pretty much grown up in this house that I’m in and it’s good to look through all of my old things and reflect on the old me. I feel happy when I’m at home, alhamdulillah.

As I was looking through my belongings, I realized that I’ve hidden a few things under my bed, which include drawings, a few diary entries, some pictures, and a couple of poems that I’ve written. One poem that I mentioned in this post, A Spark of Moonlight is a Song!?, back in May this year is one that I have wanted to share for quite some time. Remember when I stated that I would place my poem here once I go back home? Well, here it is! ^^

This poem is one that I have written back in 10th grade. The focus of the poem shifts from fantasy and imagination to reality. I did this intentionally as I wanted to depict the feeling of being stuck between fantasy and reality and also pinpoint elements of good vs. evil and life and death. It’s also a reminder that one day we will not be here on Earth.

DREAMS
By: M.A. aka Moonlight

Dreams of fairies dancing in the forest
Dreams of dragons circling around the flames
Dreams of enchanted woods hiding in the mist
Dreams of another unicorn to tame

Dreams of mermaids glittering under rainbows
Dreams of boiling deserts and golden sand that glow
Dreams of sparkling mountains and flower meadows
Dreams of pirates and ghost ships setting sail on grasslands very slow

Dreams of witches and dark magic
Dreams of elves and their grace
Dreams of orcs and their tales all-tragic
Dreams of another griffon with watchful eyes on its face

Dreams of hurricanes tearing a hole through the sky
Dreams of whirlpools swirling to the raging sound
Dreams of volcanoes erupting rocks many feet hight
Dreams of earthquakes cracking through the ground

Dreams of thunders roaring up above
Dreams of lightning flashing in the air
Dreams of rain pouring down on the wings of a dove
Dreams of another cloud not so fair

Dreams of science and an unsolved mystery
Dreams of numbers, shapes, theorems, and proofs
Dreams of the past and forgotten history
Dreams of writing, literature, and books

Dreams of the arts, paintings, and expression
Dreams of libraries stack full of stories and books
Dreams of music and melody to take away the tension
Dreams of another attempt to be in the fashion magazines and movies for the looks

Dreams of reptiles, the Stonehenge, and pre-history
Dreams of the Dark and Middle Ages; the Renaissance and the Golden Age
Dreams of the Greeks and the Fall of the Roman Empire, an ancient history
Dreams of the modern era, the future, and the End of Time right before us on stage

Dreams of an expanding universe
Dreams of black holes and the milkyway
Dreams of planets revolving around the sun in reverse
Dreams of another shooting star and spaceship in the way

Dreams of angels and their wings
Dreams of Heaven on the seventh sky
Dreams of devils and their stings
Dreams of Hell deep down below those who did no good and did not try

Dreams of an apocalypse on its way
Dreams of the final battle
Dreams of judgement day
Dreams of another attempt to bring justice soon to the sound of a rattle

Dreams of a skeleton lying six feet under in a grave
Dreams of death and all the wars we’ve fought
Dreams of an Earth we have to save
Dreams of what life is all about

P.S. I have many more poems that I’ve written back in 10th grade. It feels like I was more creative back then =P Also, I will reply to comments as soon as I can. I’ve just been spending time catching up with my mum and dad ^^ I’m also well-aware of what has been going on in the world of EXO…ahem ahem, but I shall talk about that in the next post iA. Apparently the Dragon was flying in the sky at the same time as me yesterday, which I find hilarious. Hahaha! ^_~

Big Fat Liar

Standard

After a young boy’s school essay erroneously finds its way into the hands of a Hollywood producer who turns the idea into a hit film, the boy travels to Los Angeles to claim his credit.—IMDb

This is definitely one of my favorite movies. My family watched it a few years back and laughed so much – it’s THAT hilarious! xD I recommend all of you to watch it. You’ll have a good laugh.

Marty Wolf: Some ideas just come to you…

Jason Shepherd: YEAH FROM MY BACKPACK YOU LOSER!

Don’t always trust famous people… =P

On a random note, Frankie Muniz used to be quite well-known during the days when he starred in Malcolm in the Middle. I’ve only seen an episode or two of that show xD

Gorillaz 19-2000 (Soulchild Remix)

Standard

I like it when I stumble upon old songs that I listened to when I was in high school. My iPod has tons of old songs on it >.< I listened to Gorillaz19-2000 (Soulchild Remix) several times at one point. I have my Daft Punk CD lying around in my draw back at home too. I should probably take a look at my draw full of music CD’s when I go back home iA ^^ P.S. This song doesn’t have any explicit content as the album cover indicates in the video, so no worries!

Get the cool! Get the cool shoe shine! xD

Soul Blade

Soul Blade Video Game Cover
(All the male characters look like Angry Birds =P)

I remember playing this game. I think it’s the best one in the Soul series. I have the Soul Calibur games, but they are not as memorable as Soul Blade. The opening for Soul Blade is one of the best video game openings of its time.

My favorite character in Soul Blade was Taki, the ninja from Japan. I dislike how the appearances of the female characters have been exaggerated now -_-

My favorite characters from the Soul Calibur series, on the other hand, are Xianghua and Kilik. They are both Chinese. Xianghua is supposed to be 5″0, but she looks tall o.O Short people are awesome! =P

On a random note, I’ve actually met someone that looks like the Soul Blade version of Siegfried in real life. Siegfried, a German mercenary, is one of the main characters or heroes of the games. The look-alike of his that I met is also German and I saw him at a Model United Nations conference back in Berlin, Germany in 2006. He had blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. Very good-looking, but extremely quiet for a person that is attending a conference that includes debating =P

I wish I could go back to the time when I played several video games and life wasn’t as busy as it is now.
