Like a Dui Zhang…Surrounded by an Ocean of Fans

I was going through some photos on my iPhone today and this one caught my attention…

A photo of Dui Zhang Kris surrounded by an ocean of fans. Wish there was a HD version of this!

Fans can be your temporary strength, but they can also be the reason for you to be temporarily hurt… Just like an ocean, everything seems calm, peaceful and beautiful when the skies are clear…but that very same ocean can be violent, threatening, and harmful when a storm is present.

Dui Zhang Kris…the celebrity…no, the guy named Wu Yi Fan aka Kevin Wu that calls his fans his friends and sometimes even angels. Once in a blue moon, I wonder how life is like from his eyes. Is he really happy? Why is it that I keep remembering what I had said in the post, EXO’s Kris – Smiles and Thoughts, during this time?

I also have to remind myself that long-lasting happiness can be found from within and through the path of God, rather than worldly or materialistic gains that only provide temporary happiness (and this includes entertainment for fans and fame for celebrities). This, however, doesn’t mean that we forget about money and the things that we need for survival. We need to lead a balanced life and not fall into the extreme.

Just one more day until the month of February is over! Though, I do not wish for February to be over at all, as my parents will be leaving next week and so will my friend from Changsha, and I have to handle moving from one place to another on my own, the ending of February means the beginning of the month of March and the chance to see Dui Zhang‘s return to South Korea, iA! Please fly back to us soon! We are waiting for you!

  2. first off, the title of ur blog 2day is hilarious!! and february is over in one day. I hate when february is over ‘cuz that’s how u know its about to get hot!! where I live, its SOOOO HOT!! I hate hot seasons and I stay in the house during the spring or summer because I dont wanna get any darker than I already am!! LOL!!. I only like winter and fall. but anyways u asked is kris really happy and I can even tell u that he’s really not!! he’s probably stressed as hell deep inside!! one thing I can say is we all know that EXO as a whole has had their sasaeng fans incidents. even though kris’s fans dont know the TRUE meaning of privacy, at least their not sasaeng fans and I think we can all be thankful for that :D

    • I live in the Southern hemisphere, so the weather is cooling down. I’m the opposite. I like Summer and Spring and prefer staying indoors when it’s Winter. ^^ Where do you live?

The hole in the Ozone Layer is right near Australia, which means people here are more exposed to the Sun’s UV rays. This is also why a lot of people here are likely to have skin diseases. I got a tan after moving to Australia and my skin got lighter when I went back to Saudi Arabia for the break. Now that I’m back to Australia after a long break, I’m trying to take extra care of my skin. I have to wear a lot of sunscreen, particularly one that has a very high SPF. One can get a tan even if it’s cloudy here!

I think all of the members of EXO are really stressed out right now because of the comeback. Poor guys. They need to take care of their health.

      • I live in the hot ass state of Virginia!! it gets SOOOO hot down here even BEFORE spring time!!! yeah im not tan but I wish I did have light skin!! see im like a light brown color and Im kinda chunky/meaty so I rather stay in during hot seasons so I wont get any darker!! my sister would always say “y u always in the damn house? get yo black ass outside and enjoy the sun, go find a boyfriend, do somethin ur too old to not have a boyfriend anyways!!” my daddy tells me this too. lol!! funny right?? but anyways do u live in the southern hemisphere of america or do u live in australia??

    • I have relatives and family friends that live in Virginia! The last time I was there was back in 2010. The drive from Maryland to Virginia is short, so my family and our relatives from both states were able to travel back and forth between the two states very easily. Virginia seems like a pleasant place. I remember the weather being really hot over there in the summer time.

I live in Australia, which IS IN the southern hemisphere ^^

Your sister and father are right when they say that =P In fact, my parents have given me a deadline to find a guy that I like otherwise they would get me married to a guy of their choice. I keep asking them to extend the deadline =P Apparently, my friends’ parents have also set a deadline for them to find a guy. In our culture, girls are expected to get married in their 20′s. Once a girl hits her 20′s, there are several aunties that ask the girl if she plans on getting married soon. In the earlier days, our mothers were married in their late teens. In today’s time, the age for getting married has increased, and in our society, if a girl has not found a guy, or is not married by the age of 26, there is a social stigma that she will be forever alone. The reason is that there are a lot of guys in our culture that get married in their 20′s as well…mainly around the age of 27. I know some guys that are my age, which is 24, that have already gotten married. I actually prefer finding a guy that I like and my parents also prefer that for me as well, however, they don’t want to delay marriage any further. Finding a guy is all about the right timing and right circumstances…just wish it was soon, iA! The good thing is that my parents don’t mind a guy of any nationality. ^^

Apart from culture, in the Abrahamic religions (Islam, Christianity, and Judaism), it is encouraged that young people should get married as soon as they can. These days people are delaying marriage or eradicating the institution of marriage, and for this reason many girls and guys are falling into temptation and end up committing a sin. When such a sin is committed, corruption starts to occur in society and trials and tribulations take place in people’s lives. There is also a lot of emotional and psychological stress that comes from dating around and having a heart broken, so it’s better for one to be in a committed relationship that includes marriage.

Other than that, the so-called elite that control much of the world’s economy, politics, media, etc., are getting their children married at an early age, but are creating problems for people of other social classes to get married. In order to keep most of the world’s power to themselves, the elite working alongside others, are trying to destroy the institution of marriage for people of other social classes through means such as economic instability. There are many young couples that wish to get married, but end up delaying it because they don’t have the finances to do so in today’s time.

Also, ever since I got into K-Pop, I realized that it’s better for people to get married at an early age. Why? If sasaeng fans were married, they wouldn’t be stalking K-Pop stars. Also, if K-Pop stars were married in their 20′s, they wouldn’t be caught up in many scandals. I understand that their popularity would not be as high, but at least people would pay attention to them for their talent rather than superficial things such as looks. I also feel that the fan culture is not always mentally healthy as fan girls get emotionally hurt from time to time. Some fans even joke that getting into K-Pop is like getting a one-way ticket to being forever alone. There are many K-Pop fans that have parents that actually tell them to go find a boyfriend =P If everyone’s parents are saying the same thing, then they must have a good reason for it! If being filial requires listening to our parents, then all K-Pop fans must take their parents’ advice into consideration, right? ^^

      • yeah its good to know that both of our parents doesn’t mind us dating anybody of any race/nationality :D see, I personally <3 seeing interracial relationships, they secretly make me happy :D (u see alot of that in virginia)!! yea now days, you see many girls having kids at young ages and its not right but hopefully girls and boys will learn more about life in the future :) Imma christian so I also believe that everybody should get married first before being in a committed relationship. and same thing to sasaeng fans, they need to get THEIR OWN LIFE, stop making idols miserable and afraid!! but seriously though…….and you're probably not a fan of BigBang or GD but have u heard about G-DRAGON'S incident with sasaeng fans and even some V.I.P.s(BigBang's fanclub) bashing him because he has a picture of RiHanna on his twitter?? (u and I both know why sasaeng fans have a problem with GD liking RiHanna no need to even say) I mean G-DRAGON, OMG that boy is sooooo IN LOVE with that girl RiHanna!! Imma a V.I.P. and I dont care who they like because I support BigBang alot!! as I recall, a true fan wouldn't bash or hurt their favorite idol! and did u know that the sasaeng fans showed up to his house, crowding his porch, with his mama in there?? so disrespectful :( G-DRAGON'S mama is sooo scared that she wouldn't even leave the freakin' house. the things sasaeng fans would do to see an idol……SOMEBODY has to keep these idols safe no matter how famous they are. its so many sasaeng incidents rising lately, I can't even count! Im just gonna keep it real; if somebody doesn't do something about this situation, SOMEBODY'S GONNA END UP HURT OR EVEN DEAD!! I just had to share this sasaeng incident with somebody!!

    • Interracial relationships seem more exciting, but they can be challenging too. Personally, I like getting to know people of other cultures and learning something new everyday. I find it intellectually stimulating. The challenge, however, is being accustomed or integrating yourself to another culture that has different values and morals from your own.

For instance, South Korea has a very homogenous society in which the older generation prefers their children to marry someone from their own culture. Though, the younger generation may appear to be more open towards interracial marriages, the cultural aspect of being filial towards parents can cause a bit of a challenge here. There’s that whole idea of being “pure blood” that the older generation in South Korea values. Even though that’s the case, mixed Koreans do exist, but they are never really looked at the same way as pure blooded Koreans.

I find it cool when I see mixed Pakistanis. One of my friends is half-Japanese and half-Pakistani and it’s awesome how she knows how to speak in both Urdu and Japanese. However, since she has mainly grown up in Pakistan, she seems more Pakistani to me than Japanese xD Surprisingly, there are quite a few half-Japanese and half-Pakistanis in Pakistan. My mum told me that there was a time in Pakistan when some Pakistanis and Japanese people were getting married with one another. I don’t know the reason for this, but I should try doing some research on it sometime or I can just ask my friend about it. On a random note, one of my other friends is Pakistani, but she has Mongolian ancestors.

Moreover, one of my second-cousins/distant cousins is married to a Chinese guy. She lives in Virginia…the state that you are in xD Maybe I should move to Virginia? =P I think Japanese and Chinese people are more open to interracial marriages than South Koreans. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

On another note, I find it so fascinating that the people of Northern Pakistan, who tend to be European looking due to their colored eyes+lighter complexion+lighter hair color, resemble the people of North-Western China, who are also European-looking. In this article (http://www.sify.com/news/experts-to-unravel-mystery-behind-european-looking-chinese-news-international-klvraogdgde.html), it is said that European-looking Chinese are descendants of the Roman Army (but this article tries to debunk that explanation: http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/gnxp/2010/11/no-romans-needed-to-explain-chinese-blondes/#.UTGdb1dgE7w), whereas in Pakistan it’s a fact that European-looking Pakistanis residing in Northern Pakistan are descendants of Alexander the Great’s Army. I’ve noticed that Northern Pakistan borders the North-Western side of China and I think the people residing in both regions have very similar genes. Why? They share the same ancestors, which includes a mix of different races that are present in my mother’s side of the family as well. This also explains why three of my cousins also look European-Chinese. Sometimes the genes of ancestors get expressed in different generations and in only a few descendants down the family line. Those genes are not dominant in me, but they are more dominant in the three before-mentioned cousins of mine.

Furthermore, the people of North-Western China are a Muslim minority group that reside in Urumqi, Xianjiang Province (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%9Cr%C3%BCmqi). Apparently they use the Arabic language in addition to Chinese. Additionally, the Mongolian script resembles the Arabic script! I became interested in knowing more about the people in Urumqi when one of my Chinese friends in class informed me about places in China in which Muslims live in. Interestingly, Urumqi is not the only place in China (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_China).

I think I’m getting carried away now. There are so many interesting things to learn about in this world… ^^

I am a fan of BigBang’s songs! Their latest album, Alive, was really good and definitely deserved the award that it got! I don’t know about G-Dragon’s incident. He always seems to be getting himself into trouble, but it’s silly that fans would bash him because he had a photo of Rihanna on Twitter. It’s like bashing a fan for having a photo of a K-Pop star as their display pic. o.O Imagine a bias bashing you for having a picture of another K-Pop star, who is not your bias, as your display pic. Hahaha! xD I remember a photo of G-Dragon standing next to a poster-board of Anne Hathaway and fans didn’t seem to care. Apart from that, G-Dragon’s mum seems really wise, but it’s terrible that fans would go to the extent of invading the privacy of G-Dragon’s family.

P.S. Don’t you think Kris looks like he could have ancestors that are probably a mix of different races? He is the first pure Chinese guy that I’ve noticed that has features of those that happen to be part-Chinese and part-Western.

      • first off u said u “were getting carried away” but not at all! I actually read ur whole reply message and enjoyed it :D I like when u send me long reply messages!! and ur right about chinese and japanese people.they are more open to dating other races.I also have mixed people in my family too and they know 2 languages as well:)I have a half japanese-half black in my family. her name is nakita. I even have a couple of half chinese-half black in my family too. I think there are more chinese and japanese in america than koreans anyway. and yes there are mixed asians around for example, do u know korean female rapper Yoon MiRae? she’s half korean-half black. if not, u should look her up!! shes one of those mixed asians and shes just gorgeous! and what if u moved back to virginia?? I think that would be awesome even though I wouldnt know where u would be lol!! and I also love GD because he’s not scared to express his feelings and who he likes!! I love GD because HE ACTUALLY DOESN’T CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT HIM UNLIKE LOTS OF OTHER KPOP IDOLS!! I think GD should get some of those “Bruce Lee” security/bodygaurds(thats probably his next step anyways ‘cuz ya know GD got some ”$” and hes a mama’s boy) so as soon as a sasaeng fan comes out from hiding in the bushes(literally) and say something to GD, they’ll just get “NUNCHUCKED” because they shouldn’t be stalking him in the first place.them sasaengs need some sleep anyways(hope u get the joke) LOL!! but seriously though…….AS FOR KRIS, HELL YEAH HE LOOKS LIKE HE’LL HAVE A MIXED FAMILY!! HE EVEN ACTS LIKE HE’S AMERICAN!! OUT OF ALL MEMBERS OF EXO, HE’S THE ONLY ONE THAT DOESN’T EVEN DO THE AEGYO THINGY!! HE’S SO MATURE!! :D

      • Aww, thanks! ^^

That’s cool that you have mixed people in your family. Your family seems really open to interracial marriages. I forgot to mention, I have a half-Russian half-Pakistani cousin that has an Australian nationality xD Out of the three nationalities, he seems more Aussie. I guess growing up in a particular place for a long time makes a huge difference.

I know about Yoom Mi Rae! I’ve heard a few of her songs in which she collaborated with other music artists. She’s very talented!

There are A LOT of Chinese and Koreans in Sydney. In fact, everywhere I go in Sydney I see Chinese xD However, I’ve noticed that a lot the Chinese, who mainly grew up in Mainland China, tend to date people of their own culture, whereas the Chinese that have grown up in Australia are very different. The ones that have grown up here seem more confident, chill, and open to dating people of other nationalities. However, I do know a few Chinese guys from Mainland China that are confident as well.

Oh, and whatever I have said in the previous paragraph is all based on my observation of being back in Sydney for a year now. A lot of Chinese have migrated to Australia in the 2000′s due to the change in immigration rules, and I was in the Middle East during that time, so I’ve noticed quite a difference in Sydney after coming back. Sydney is really evolving!

Also, I see a lot of Chinese girls dating foreigners, but I don’t see that with a lot of Chinese guys. It’s interesting ’cause right now the male population is much higher than the female population in China. I read an article that there is actually a social problem, because this means that a lot of men (around 1 million) in China are going to remain single, unless they actually start thinking about marrying a foreigner. The women in China at the moment have more choice in choosing who they want to marry. In Pakistan, it’s the opposite because the female population is higher than the male population. I guess if countries need to solve this kind of social problem, they are going to have to convince people that interracial marriage is good and get them to be more open-minded.

Anyhow, people of any nationality that have grown up abroad or outside of the country they are from have a different mentality from the people that have lived in the country that they are from all their life. For example, I’m ethnically from Pakistan, but I’ve grown up outside of the country. I, myself, notice that there is a difference in me compared to Pakistanis that have grown up in Pakistan for most of their life.

About G-Dragon…whatever I admire about him has more to do with his musical talent and that’s it. Out of all the members of BigBang, I like Taeyang. He seems like a genuinely nice guy that has a great voice and is a good dancer. He doesn’t look like the extreme party type compared to his members, but I could be wrong…’cause hey, it’s BigBang =P

What I meant about Kris is that he looks like he has ancestors (it could even be from a very long time ago, such as centuries) that could have been of a mixed race, ’cause some of his features look European. They’re sharp and distinct. Speaking of this, one of my friends was showing me a trailer for a Chinese movie, which includes a lot of martial arts, that she wanted me to watch. There is a famous Chinese actor in it, whose name I have forgotten, but when I saw him I immediately asked if he was a mix and she said, “yes,” and told me that he is Canadian-Chinese. So, it’s kind of easy to spot those that are of a mix race. I just have this feeling that Kris has some mixed genes in him that have been passed on from long ago.

      • But I need emoticons in my life, they’re like my extensions haha. :D see ? :D D (I need to get out now, it feels like I’m spamming an in-depth and serious conversation ^^)

  3. Hello, Ms. Moonlight. :) I have read your previous posts before, and I am really quite impressed by your writings. :) Kudos for that!

    “Is he really happy?”

Well, we know that being a celebrity is very deceiving. It can make or break people’s ideas of life and living – much more to the celebrity himself. It’s like everyday your on the center stage with that spotlight on, and every little thing you do is going to mark in history (well, I believe there are different perceptions of history, is continuous and personal).

And that’s not gonna make a person happy.

Looking at the theory of “dramaturgy”, every one is playing our parts on a drama called life. Everyone has their spotlights on. It’s going to be a long, painful and whirlwind experience for each and everyone of us. Unfortunately (maybe), some people have elevated their stages and roles before us. They can make everyone participate in their “drama”. This can be of freewill, of insistence, or even with the act of force. However, in the case of Duizhang, we can’t tell. It’s private, and we have to respect that. But, in my point of view, this is very burdensome (everyone seeing you as a big part of their life as an idol). But we can always translate this into challenges.

To be happy is really up to him – face the challenges and won a day. To be happy is of freewill, it’s actually a choice. And this in this choice, we can actually help each other. Simple moral support, understanding and sharing of strength in order to fight well are just few to do.

Maybe, that’s why he changed his name — to give the benefit of the thin line separation between his personal life and celebrity – idol status.

We may not know him personally (maybe not ever) but let’s just give him and other idols the benefit of the doubt.

“Life is a stage, we all play the roles.”

And I know you can understand me, as well as the others.

    Thank you! <3

    • Hello, Ms. iamnumber 06 ^^ (Do you have a name/nickname that I may call you by?)

Thank you for the lovely compliment!

I agree with what you have stated. I do sense that the profession of a celebrity is tough. I think the reason that people stick to it is due to the fame and money that comes along with it. Fame can be an addiction just like many other things, and it’s very hard to break away from it. However, there are also people out there that have the passion for singing/dancing/acting, and for them to be a celebrity, it’s not really about the fame and money…but their passion to do what they love, which motivates them.

Having every single move watched is definitely not a normal way to live, but remember…God is watching all of us, whether we are in the public or not. What matters is how God will judge us rather than how other human beings will judge us. If one keeps that in mind, we don’t have to worry about what others think, but worry about whether we have lived our life as a good human being in God’s eyes. In the end, whatever we do is between us and God, and that’s the way it should be. Life is definitely a test for all of us.

About the name change…the reason is not a mystery. Several celebrities have stage names and several people change their real names. Kris just happens to be one of them.

Lastly, one can create happiness or find happiness within themselves if he/she wants to. The trick for that is to be thankful for whatever you have.

      <3

      • You can call me Sixx. :) (My name is actually the other name for six.)

And yes, it is us who will choose to be happy. Happiness is a choice. <3

  4. I do have an HD version of that. I downloaded it this last feb 2, But I can’t find the link where I got it from. It’s not a fancam.
(EXO – 130126 SSTV SM Town In LA – Like A G6 – YouTube) This is the title. Can’t find it on youtube again

Totally agree with this thought, sis. And I think your words was so great. I beg your permition to quote it. :-)
