Look at that baller taking a photo with his fans/friends, yo! xD

Kris finally got the chance to take a photo with his fans/friends and that too in Vancouver, B.C., Canada…his other home! Awesome! He wasn’t able to take a photo with his fans/friends when he wanted to take one with them back at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in November after his solo trip home, so it’s nice to see that he was finally able to take a photo with his fans/friends from his other hometown. Kris, I will take a photo with you…ONE DAY, iA! =P BE PREPARED (of course, I would ask first ^^). Furthermore, Kris bought coffee for a fan. I see random acts of kindness. Cute!

Koala Bear ^^ Is this picture enough to convince Kris to visit Australia? =P

So, it has been more than one year since Kris has visited Canada. It must have been a bit of a change for him since he is visiting his Canadian hometown after debuting. I remember him mentioning in his “love letter” to fans that he used to spend some quiet time with his mum and friends whenever he visited Vancouver during the winter months of his trainee years and that he liked to sleep in at home because he is a Koala Bear (If you’re a Koala Bear, then you must visit Australia, Kris! You will see many of your fellow Koala Bear friends here =P).

On the other hand, I have no idea why people are arguing or debating about fans in Vancouver…THAT is NOTHING in comparison to what fans of other celebrities have done. As long as the public figure is not being attacked or followed everywhere, there is really nothing to worry about. Chill. Relax. Breathe in and breathe out. While fans are debating and getting all worked up, Kris is probably just chilling at home and eating some popcorn (and who knows…probably scrolling through Tumblr too) =P You never know…

On a more serious note, it’s good that Kris has some family time. I’m trying to spend as much time with family before they leave next month too, iA. Family is family. Any fan living away from family would understand what I mean.

Hope Kris has a good stay, iA! ^^

P.S. My blog is overflowing with posts on Kris lately. Oh my…

  1. I thought I wouldn’t comment anymore but you seem to be a more “chilled” fan and I like that lol
    I like how you’re reasonable and more down-to-earth I guess ^.^
Anyway, did you hear how fans are flooding this reporter’s twitter ? I seriously wonder why he was there in the first place …
About the fans, I have to admit I’m one of those who would have preferred that they didn’t stalk him at the airport even though they were pretty calm ! But then again I’m not in their position and I probably would have been really curious … He was there for personal reasons though :(

    • Thanks for your second comment, Evelili! xD ^^

I guess I’m not “possessive”…that’s why! =P Being possessive can lead one to become irrational, if you know what I mean.

As for the fans, I think it was worse in China when 100 or so fans invaded the personal space of the members of EXO during their first few rounds of promotion. Remember those times? I didn’t see any fans pushing or shoving Kris in Vancouver.

I understand that Kris was traveling for personal reasons, but I’m also aware that he probably expected fans to be at the airport and that they would take photos of him. He’s old enough, smart enough, and has been trained for four years to know how the life of a celebrity is like. Any celebrity that thinks he/she will not be greeted at airports or be recognized in public must be really silly! =P Fans greeting him at airports in a civil manner or bumping into him by chance is alright; however, following him around is wrong. That’s an invasion of privacy.

I heard about the reporter. It’s better to ignore. Getting a reaction out of people is his job, as he gets paid for it. That’s what the paparazzi do. I had a very strong feeling that one day Kris would encounter the paparazzi in the West. I mentioned this a couple of months ago in another post. I didn’t expect it to happen this early. Anyhow, the paparazzi exists because people pay attention to them. If we don’t pay attention to them, they would be out of their job. So in order for that kind of paparazzi behavior to stop, we must entirely block it out from the mind and pretend that it doesn’t exist. It’s strange that the reporter was present at the airport in the first place, but he must have been paid or told that he was going to get paid for whatever news that could be generated.

      • I never saw it that way but you’re right ! lol I’m not possessive either ^^

Western fans seem to be calmer and more respectful :) Probably because there are less of them and they don’t have that “idol” culture as much as the Asian ones ? I don’t want to generalize but that’s my opinion …

Kris knows how to behave in public and it’s a shame SM doesn’t let their idols interact much with their fans in a “casual” way but it IS a marketing strategy :( We can’t do anything about it. It’s just that he managed not to be spotted for so many days, it just screams “I’m doing my own thing, don’t stalk me” to me … Well I don’t know what goes through his mind, I’m just assuming ^^ The limit between a dedicate fan and a stalker seems really thin in the idol world :(

And yeah, you’re right about the reporter. I was just so surprised to see one there, I mean it was just Kris on his own, on a personal schedule and EXO isn’t even worldwide known to the general public …

    • I think there are calm and respectful fans across all cultures =) It’s just that C-fans and K-fans worry about how International fans would react (due to what they have probably seen on Tumblr in the past), and that’s why they don’t reveal a lot of information that they know about the members of EXO to International fans. However, one of my Chinese friends has told me that Chinese fans can react in an irrational manner and go to extreme ends or go overboard to show appreciation for a celebrity as well, so yes…we can’t really generalize. Furthermore, “idol culture” in the West is called “celeb. culture”…the only difference is that the paparazzi is prevalent in the West in comparison to the East. On a funny note, we might think it’s strange that there are so many die-hard fans of Nicki Minaj or Justin Bieber, whereas others might think it’s strange that there are so many die-hard fans of K-Pop stars =P

I feel that Kris has learned how to behave in public by being able to understand his fans better. I remember him saying that he wants to understand how his fans feel, and this was when he was replying to messages on EXO-M’s message board in May 2012. Apart from that, I’m aware that other SM Entertainment artists have also interacted with their fans, despite the company’s restrictions. One example is Siwon of Super Junior. Since some fans don’t pay attention to other SME artists, they don’t realize that =P

I truly believe that Dui Zhang has something very important to take care of and probably wants some alone time, but I’m also sure that he was aware of the fact that he would eventually be spotted in public, otherwise he wouldn’t be carrying a suitcase with an EXO logo on it or have his blue dragon plushie be seen in public. Moreover, if he didn’t want his whereabouts to be known, he wouldn’t have updated his location on RenRen to Guangzhou =P If I didn’t want anyone to know about my whereabouts, I wouldn’t be “checking-in” to some place on Facebook for everyone to see =P

      • I like how what you say makes sense ^.^ Of course there are calm and respectful fans everywhere but we unfortunately don’t hear about them as much as the die-hard fans :)

Who needs paparazzi when you have attributed fan photographers ? lol or you could turn it the other way round, fans need pictures but they can’t find enough pictures so they just take the pictures themselves ! I can’t help but shudder when I see those huge professional cameras at the airports. And there are a lot of them as well … But that’s expected.

Here’s the way I see it : the West only has a few young famous celeb whereas Korea (and Asia) has a lot more but their targeted market is the same (age and audience wise). I’m not surprised anymore by die-hard fans after I got to know kpop lol (that’s probably not a good thing though). I realize I can’t really make a comparison because I know almost nothing about western celebs …

It would be cool if they replied on their official fanboard more often ! But I get that they’re still rookies and they are trying to create this mysterious image as opposed to other rookies who are trying to get their name out there :( I don’t follow Siwon but that’s good to know ! Now we just have to wait another 6 years or so before Exo can be more relaxed. just kidding ^^

I guess he was aware of it after all ^^ I’ve always wondered about their social network accounts. Are they allowed to have one or update ? I’ve seen them changing their biography instead of simply updating… I’m confused.

Why am I even writing such long paragraphs ? … I shouldn’t be doing that right now …. lol

    • Bad news always has a larger impact than good news, which is a bummer >_<

Fan photographers are a lot better than paparazzi! At least they don't provoke the artist by asking rude and personal questions. Fan photographers are present to take photographs of artists and share them with the fandom, and sometimes even the artists go online just to see their own HD photos taken by them! xD Though, I do often question how fan photographers make time for going to airports whenever an artist is about to depart or arrive. As for the huge professional cameras…they look scary to me too! xD

You're right about the differentiation between young famous celebs. in the West and young famous celebs. in the East, especially South Korea. I think the Hallyu Wave and the recent rise in popularity of K-Pop has made businessmen see that their is profit in the entertainment sector of their country. So, they set up their own entertainment company and the larger the number of entertainment companies, the more young famous people there are.

The Chinese members of EXO have social networking accounts. They're probably allowed to have one to connect with their Chinese audience, but at the same time they're aware of what to say on it. ^^

  3. i know kris is happy!! and you’re hilarious, ” While fans are debating and getting all worked up, Kris is probably just chilling at home and eating some popcorn.” and you’re probably right!! and one day, wouldn’t we all love to hug kris :) I would give him a bear hug. and if its ever possible,(which it might not be ever), I WOULD REALLY LOVE FOR KRIS AND ALL OF EXO-M(I LIKE EXO-M MORE THAN EXO-K), TO VISIT VIRGINIA ONE DAY!! EXO HAS LOTS OF FANS IN THE SOUTHERN STATES OF AMERICA TOO……

    • A hug would be really nice xD If EXO becomes really popular…who knows? They might be able to visit Virginia then! I’ve noticed that K-Pop stars always make visits to the West Coast, but I guess it’s ’cause there are a large number of Asians over there. New York seems to be the only state on the East Coast where they have concerts.

      • EXO HAS FANS OF EVERY COLOR…….BUT I THINK YOU’RE RIGHT!! THEY PROBABLY ONLY GO TO WEST COAST BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT MORE ASIANS ON THAT SIDE OF AMERICA…….I KNOW THEY DONT INTENTIONALLY GO TO THE WEST COAST MOST OF THE TIME BUT HOPEFULLY US SOUTHERNERS CAN GET SOME LOVE FROM ASIAN IDOLS TOO ;(
