My 2-Minute Poems Written Many Years Ago

Once I Was A Happy Kid
by A Spark of Moonlight

Once I was a happy kid, never knowing what I did
Always ready to open that soda can’s lid
I would be smiling, I would be laughing
Never had the fear for carrying that thought that I never even fought
Always getting the attention, so much to mention
I was just a kid, never knowing what I did
Then all of a sudden I came to the place where I couldn’t laugh, nor smile for years…it made me burst into tears
Somewhere it call came back, but then someday I had to leave and pack
Once I was a happy kid, never knowing what I did
Now I’m here, it’s been almost a year
Then the same thing happens while the beat goes tappin’
Maybe someday, somehow, I will be a happy kid…this time always knowing what I did

The Stage Poem
by A Spark of Moonlight

The light shines down upon the stage
I’m sitting here being tortured in a cage
I look up to see those that come and go
But I’ll always remain at the end of the river flow
Constant thoughts running back and forth
I do not understand an Assembly of this sort
People cheering and crying out names
Each and every clap that burns the heart in flames

A few weeks back I mentioned that I found some old poems lying around at home. These are two poems that I had written within 2 minutes many many years ago. The Stage Poem mentioned here is only a small piece of the whole poem I had written, so it kind of ends abruptly. Don’t ask me why my poems sound a bit emo. Back then, I usually wrote poems when I simply needed to get rid of stress =P

  1. Assalamualaikum Moonlight..

Since I have interest with Exo, I often come to your blog. But this time, I want to ask something about Islam. What do you think about Hijab? what hijab means for you?

    Thanks for your replay.

    • Wa’alaikum-assalam, febi! ^^

Thank you. I’m surprised that you asked, as I heard a discussion going on about the hijab on the radio while I was out yesterday.

What most people forget is that women in Christianity and Judaism are also asked to cover their hair. Wearing the hijab is a requirement in Islam, but it is also a personal choice. We shouldn’t judge others on whether they wear the hijab or not, because a person that is not wearing a hijab can turn out to be more pious or have better intentions than a person wearing a hijab. Also, there is no point for a person to wear the hijab if he/she backbites about others, tells lies, and does everything else that is frowned upon in Islam. Once again, it’s the intentions and what’s in your heart that counts.

To be honest, wearing the hijab also means that one should be wearing proper attire too. There are often times when girls wear the hijab but wear very tight clothes and it kind of defeats the hijab’s purpose. Furthermore, one must be very serious if she chooses to wear the hijab as God wouldn’t be too happy to see someone make the decision of wearing it and then taking it off after a few months have passed by.

Now, we all know that in Islam we are taught that women are like pearls and that their beauty should not be on display in front of men that they are not related to, but a hijab is much more than that. Like I’ve mentioned before, there is no point in wearing it if a person has bad intentions or does other things that are disliked by God.

Generally speaking, women, whether they wear the hijab or not, should dress modestly in society if they want to be treated with respect. That’s something that is universally known.

Anyhow, this is just my viewpoint on the hijab =)

  2. ” Just like the way you said, I have feeling too …
Since, I was a kid, never knowing what I did and never knowing how time goes fast and never knowing what is love .
Later, I discover that I have living in fear not shameless.
It is very tough for me to walk in society . “
