EXO's Official Calendar for 2013

EXO‘s Official 2013 Calendar – “Fantastic Journey” (Chinese Version)

The new year that’s approaching definitely calls for a new calendar. Of course, multiple K-Pop groups will have an official calender that fans will be able to purchase. It all depends on which K-Pop group you’re a particular fan of. Although I like many K-Pop groups and have been focusing on EXO this year, I’m not going to be purchasing any of their lovely calendars.

Having a look at the scans of EXO‘s official calendar for 2013, I really like the photos despite the overuse of Photoshop. There are also four different concepts for EXO‘s calendars:

I think I like the cover for the “Fantastic Journey” concept, both Global and Chinese versions. Maybe the reason is that I enjoy traveling =P Also, ask yourself…would you want to have a fantastic party, or a fantastic journey, or a show with EXO? xD

I’m going to place my favorite photos from the calendars here. I may have to update my post as I believe that not all of the scans of the photos in the calendars have been released so far.

Starting with Dui Zhang…of course =P

Why, hello there =P Kris looks like a doll. Any piece of clothing that his stylists give him really suits him. I have my own fashion sense, but I do see similar outfits that Kris wears in some of the stores here and think of buying them. A few weeks back, I bought a denim jacket, but in a darker shade of blue. It looks similar to the one Changmin wore in the photobook for TVXQ‘s trip to Paris in 2007. Since I have jet-black hair, I think the darker shade of blue looks nicer on me in comparison to the lighter shade. My mum told me to go for the darker shade too. Speaking of photobooks, I can’t wait to see the ones for EXO in the near future, iA!

On a random note, my mum thinks Kris looks nicer with his hair up. I also think his jawline looks different when his hair is up in comparison to down. Whenever I look at Kris‘ jawline, it reminds me of the jawline a girl from Guangdong Province had that I met and talked to at the gathering for wishing Kris ‘Happy Birthday.’ She kind of looked like Kris too o.O Her straight nose, her eyes…a mix of Western and Chinese features. It was kind of surprising, but she was probably only an inch or two taller than me and I’m petite. Guess what that girl’s name was? I believe it was Angel. It didn’t hit me at that time, but I remember saying, “Oh, nice! Your name relates to the song, ‘Angel’!” I don’t know if that’s her real name, but that’s the name she told me when I asked her. What if she was trolling on me? =P Talk about strange…

Despite Sehun-ah‘s -_- facial expressions, I feel like Sehun-ah pulls off the prim and and proper look very well. I think with this kind of style, he can almost be compared to Dui Zhang, who is known as the “Fashion King” of EXO. I’ve heard that Sehun-ah is very handsome in person and many that have seen him in real find him just as handsome as Dui Zhang or probably more. The maknae is still in his teens. Just give him a few years and we will probably see.

Suho looks very handsome and gentleman-like in this photo. His pose looks very natural too. He is giving off the Jihoo vibe (a reference to the character from Boys Over Flowers).

There’s something about Chen Chen when it comes to photoshoots. I witnessed this in the Ceci magazine photoshoot video as well. The camera seems to love him! Chen Chen doesn’t seem like he trained under SM Entertainment for less than a year.

Baekhyun always looks like a puppy and the bow tie makes him look even cuter ^^

It seems as if I like the photos from the “It’s Showtime” concept more. I suppose it has to do with the polished and sophisticated appearances of each member.

I also noticed that Lay is featured for the month, February, which happens to be the month of my birthday. Woot! Woot!

As for Dui Zhang‘s message for the upcoming year:

It looks like Dui Zhang browses the Internet a lot. His “heart” was drawn as “<3″ instead of the normal heart that the rest of the members drew in their message xD

“Let’s be together every year.” I don’t like it when K-Pop stars say something like this. It sounds like they don’t want to let us go because they want to continue taking money from us =P Of course, that’s not what Dui Zhang means (I hope…). From a delusional point of view, “Yes, let’s be together forever, Dui Zhang!” Is that what you want to hear? =P Wishing you a ‘Happy New Year’ too, Dui Zhang!

Overall, EXO‘s official calendar is just like any other K-Pop group’s calendar. We can expect EXO to soon have other merchandise sold under their name. My friend’s collection of SHINee merchandise is an example (I’ve mentioned in her in the post, After 12 Years… The L plushie in the pictures looks like pre-debut Kris 5 year ago when he wore the white turtle-neck full sleeves top, which you can see a pic. of here. Coincidence after coincidence…).

My friend’s collection is awesome, but I don’t think I can ever have a collection like this. Maybe if I were a teen, yes…but I have never been into the whole celebrity culture. It’s just not my thing. I would rather just listen to a group’s music, but I can’t believe that I’ve been caught in the wave of blogging about a K-Pop group’s members, particularly Dui Zhang >.< I believe that fans can be great entertainers at times, probably even more entertaining than the celebs. themselves, which I have mentioned a few months back =P

Also, I find particular K-Pop merchandise, such as mugs and pillows, that contain faces of K-Pop celebs. to be rather creepy. It’s like buying things that have your classmate’s face on it (even though no K-Pop star has ever been my classmate) o.O Awkward… Just imagine if one of your classmates became a K-Pop star. Would you a buy a pillow with his face on it? =P Or, look at a pre-debut video or picture of your favorite K-Pop star and imagine yourself buying a mug or pillow with his face on it before he was famous. I don’t know, but whenever I imagine it, I laugh.

When it comes to collecting, it has more to do with stationary items…I like collecting funky-colored notebooks, fancy glitter pens, and I always have the urge to have every color pencil that Faber-Castell has produced =P But that’s just me…
