I was browsing through YouTube for things that I grew up watching or playing in the 90′s and stumbled upon some interesting videos that were pretty much a blast from the past.
I can’t believe that the times have changed SO much. Literally. From the clothes we wear, to the music we listen to, to the technology we had back then…EVERYTHING!
I’m going to be honest and say that the fashion of the 90′s was terrible =P However, everything else was really good as we were not distracted so much from the technological devices that we have today. Western songs had meaning, TV shows for kids had lessons, neighbors knew each other and would hang out, …and I could go on and on with the childhood memories.
I remember watching almost every show that is mentioned in the video, especially on Saturday mornings. Furthermore, “The Haunted Mask” in the Goosebumps series was one of my favorites and I used to read the books in the Babysitters Club series. I used to take a plastic lunch box set that had the Smurfs on it and owned a Super Nintendo, a plastic pool, Tamagotchi, sticker earrings, a colorful slinky, razor skooter, and Walkman as well. I also remember renting VHS tapes, seeing the young boys from my class wear clothes or hats that would have the Chicago Bulls logo on it, playing hopscotch, hanging out at tree houses (very rare though), Hot Wheels, running through the sprinklers, small amounts of money being valuable, going to McDonald’s on the weekends, asking my parents to take me to Toys “R” Us, making decisions by doing Eeny Meeny Mini Mo, being a big fan of Disney movies, and learning new things from Bill Nye the Science Guy.
Moreover, I remember listening to many of the hit songs in the following video back in the 90′s. My parents used to be a fan of some of them and we would often listen to them when we were out on a drive. I really liked Ace of Base ^^ (Sometimes I wonder how I got into K-Pop…hahahaha xD):
Of course, there was a lot more to the 90′s than what is mentioned here! I miss the 90′s! ^^’ This reminds me of a song that I used to listen to back in high school called, “Gone” by Switchfoot. The lyrics speak the truth as they indicate that everything disappears over time and is temporary, but God is always there to rely on as God is eternal.
I’m thinking of making a few posts about things that remind me of my childhood from now on as they would be wonderful to look back at ^^
I just thought this was quite interesting and alarming.
It makes you think about the sudden change since 5 out of 6 of the members of EXO-M were together as seen in the first video.

Now (By the way, whenever I come out of the airport like this and see a large group of people waiting for others, but looking at me at the same time when no one else is coming out, I always feel like laughing xD LuHan kind of looks like he wants to control his laugh):
And another one (I am happy that they have many fans now, but look at the fan girls running up the opposite escalator just to capture pictures of the members…crazy! Where did dignity and sensibility disappear? What happened to LuHan is clearly unacceptable):

In the first video, it is evident that the members are roaming around in a very carefree manner, then a few months later, there are several people going crazy after them to the extent that have absolutely no privacy. Moreover, it’s a little sad to see how there are close-up pictures of what Tao is carrying in his hands while walking from a convenience store or the zoom-in picture of the panda earring he is wearing, and a zoom-in picture of Kris‘ hands circulating around the internet. I mean…it’s ridiculous (sometimes I wonder, “What am I doing with my life by looking at these pics.?” It’s kind of hard to avoid such pics. as they are practically everywhere on social media sites as I scroll through my newsfeed or dashboard >_<)! Imagine someone taking a close-up shot of every detail of you, such as your eye or your nose… xD
Apart from the chaos that occurred at their arrival in Beijing, I have a feeling that our lovely members (or any member of a K-Pop group) are quite different from the image that they actually show us in public. I don’t know…I just have a gut feeling about it (but I also have a gut feeling that Lay is a very humble and considerate person…there’s something very pleasant about him since I first saw him in the beginning of EXO‘s online promotion – way before I even read some of the stories his close ones or other fans have mentioned him in). As Anne Ruthmann from the article, “Would You Rather Be Famous or Amazing?,” states:
Being famous is hard and requires a lot of personal compromise, but being amazing only requires you to be your personal best and be true to who you are.
What do you all think? This is just my honest opinion…I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t have looked twice if I had seen the members walking around on the street in real as displayed in the first video, unless I knew them personally ’cause I see guys roaming around like that over here quite frequently =P Then again, the current situation that the members are now part of is the work of a well-implemented marketing strategy by an entertainment company!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of them and have been keeping a close watch on them since the beginning (plus I get a good laugh from the fandom), but I think I would rather keep myself sane and not completely crazy about them for the reason that I would not want to be disappointed if I had found out how they are like in real (far from the ideal image we have of them in mind) and not the way they are portrayed in the media or told to act in front of fans.
I guess I can say that philosophical thoughts come to mind when I look deeper into things xD I feel like everyone should be treated equally regardless of whether they are a celebrity or not. I do wish EXO all the best and I hope that the next time EXO-M arrives in Beijing, they are not pushed around by a huge crowd like that. There is something called personal space ’cause I’m sure nobody would want a random stranger to come and touch them (imagine, this is only the beginning and they are already under the surveillance of so many cameras…). Personally speaking, as a leader, it would have been best to inform the members to link arms and walk together as to ensure that none of them get left behind in the crowd. However, I understand that the situation must have been unexpected and Kris was being accompanied by the manager so he couldn’t really do anything.
On the other hand, I would like to see more of this natural and fun side to them. For me, this is real entertainment…hahaha!:

The day a remake of Final Fantasy VII (FF7) is released, is the day that I will go back to playing video games iA xD
I’ve had a whole debate on this with fans before. Seeing that Square-Enix is not doing so well financially, a remake of FF7would definitely enable the company to reap profits. The only thing that is holding them back I suppose is that they would have to remake the game from scratch, which may alter the magical setting in which the game’s story took place.

Apart from the picture of Tao, Kris, and Chanyeol blowing a balloon away at the SMTOWN concert in L.A. last week, I thought this was the most adorable thing that I have ever seen on Tumblr xD I find this amusing since I mentioned in my post, A Dream About EXO-M, that I had a dream in which Kris was giving a 3-4 year-old girl a piggy back ride and had a warm smile on his face while doing so ^^

My baby niece and I are watching Cinderella on my bed when she looks up and stares intently at my EXO posters. She then indicates that she wants me to carry her towards them. This is what happened for about five minutes nonstop until she was done showering Kris with “hi~” and kisses.
Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke by Miyazaki are probably my favorite Anime movies. Deep, philosophical, strange, and exciting would be the words to best describe these movies. I’ve probably seen Spirited Away about five or more times. I watched it during my early teen years and I watched Princess Mononoke in a class back in 6th grade. Not to mention, I absolutely love the soundtracks for both of these movies as they are quite moving.

I saw an album on a Facebook fan page today that contained photos of Kris at the latest fan signing event that took place yesterday with both EXO-K and EXO-M at Yeongdeungpo Times Square, Seoul. Apparently 41/42 pics. are of Kris NOT SMILING. I’m sure that more will be added to the album. I felt like trolling by typing “NO SMILE” under every pic., but of course, I have a life and wouldn’t do that =P I just find it a tad bit strange…

It’s interesting that I had a dream about EXO-M just a couple of hours ago and thought I should share it here before I forget about it. It was a pleasant dream. I saw some of the EXO-K members too, but I only remember Baekhyun clearly. Anyhow, in the dream it was a sunny day with clear blue skies. There was a huge field of flowers everywhere and one part of it was surrounded by a fence, dividing it from the grassy hills that surrounded it and the mountains in the distance. The scenery was breathtaking and the colorful flowers, mainly tulips, and long green grass added a lovely visual effect to the peaceful and serene atmosphere.

Apparently, EXO-M was having some kind of promotional event in the area (EXO-K was meant to have a promotional event the day before and that was where I remember seeing Baekhyun). The members looked incredibly happy. I saw Lay, with his backpack, jumping and smiling in the field xD XiuMin was having some sort of race with LuHan and Chen and had a big smile on his face too. Tao was roaming and looking around the park as a few butterflies flew in the air. Kris was running across the field and was the happiest that I have probably ever seen. He looked like he was at peace (he had his current blonde hair and was wearing the outfit that he wore to Disneyland). One little girl was lucky to win a draw in some EXO competition held for fans and had the opportunity to spend a day with Kris. She was probably 3-4 years old and was from Europe. Her parents accompanied her and watched from afar. They looked very happy too as they took pictures of their daughter and Kris to keep as part of a wonderful memory. I had the opportunity to see the pictures later on as I visited the little girls’ parents at their home. Apparently, Kris had a very father-like appearance as he gave the little girl a piggy-back ride while running across the field. He kept smiling the whole time and then he decided to take a break and lean back against the fence while the little girl sat next to him (it kind of reminded me of a pic. taken when I was 3 years old in which my dad was holding me up to help me look over a fence at the giraffes in a zoo). The little girl was quiet, but looked very happy and kept smiling. In the meantime, Kris continued to smile while looking out in the distance at the beautiful scenery…content and at peace, as if he had finally found his freedom
Then the scene changed to me waiting on YouTube for SM Entertainment to upload a new EXO music video. Apparently, the EXO music video was meant to appear through a pop-up screen, but the first thing that I got to see was a funny pirate talking. I thought, “Oh, is this like a small glimpse of what the next music video will contain…pirates?” xD Then the scene changed to me waiting with other fans to be taken into some virtual world with EXO. The event was held at a place that my parents were renting out for a while since I saw my mum clearing up everything (it was random as my parents are not renting any place like that in real =P). SM Entertainment had asked our permission to hold the event there (kind of like how my aunt and her family was asked if an advertisement for a mobile communications company could be shot at her home…it was funny seeing the ad. on TV ’cause it displayed my aunt’s place that I have been to several times xD). Anyhow, all the fans were waiting in line to enter the virtual world with EXO in it. I was the first one in line, but surprisingly Kris entered the scene, followed by his members, to meet us. A screen flickered on the wall and a few lines from the song, “Into Your World/Angel,” that happens to be Kris‘ favorite from the MAMA mini-album, appeared on it. However, before Kris could say anything, I woke up xD
So that was my dream. I don’t remember seeing much of myself in it. I was more of an observer that was watching the members of EXO-M enjoy a lovely moment together. I really loved the part where all the members of EXO-M looked incredibly happy and peaceful while spending a beautiful day outside. It would be wonderful to see the side of Kris that I saw in my dream in real ^^
B.A.P‘s “Power” is a great song to warm up to. Many of the people here use this song to do a warm up before practicing the choreography for dances. It always gets me pumped up and wanting to dance xD
Although I am not a fan of any member in B.A.P, as they are all very young, I think they are talented and I really enjoy listening to their songs ^^
I used to be a very huge fan of the anime, “Bleach,” during high school and the following two AMVs of “Bleach” happen to have been my favorite for a couple of years. Both of the AMVs contain songs from the band, Pillar.
My favorite characters were Rukia, Renji, and Byakuya. Interestingly, I had attended an Anime drawing workshop last year at my previous uni. and drew Rukia. People were asked to vote for the best drawing and mine was a tie with some other dude’s. When we were told to stand next to our drawing, the guys at the event told me, “You kind of look like Rukia!!!” I don’t know whether I should take that as a compliment or not. I think I look like myself xD
I found “Travel in Nature” by Daishi Dance more than half a year ago and I am wondering what the language in this song is. I know that Daishi Dance is a Japanese DJ but the language in which the people are singing in does not sound Japanese. I tried searching for the lyrics but couldn’t find any =/ If anyone knows, please inform me. It’s a pretty nice song. I can picture a battle scene going on…using the last bit of hope. My imagination becomes active after listening to it xD
On a random note, I checked my stats. page and found that one person from China has viewed my blog sometime between now and February 25th, 2012. How is that possible? I thought WordPress was blocked in China xD Sneaky sneaky…seems like someone was able to get through =P
